What Is an EICR?
An EICR, or Electrical Installation Condition Report, is a safety check of the fixed wiring in your property.
It helps find things like damaged wiring, overloaded circuits, poor earthing, old fuse boards or anything else that could make the electrics unsafe.
Once the test is finished, you’ll receive a report showing whether the installation is satisfactory or if any work is needed.
Who Needs an EICR Certificate?
EICR certificates are often needed by landlords, homeowners and businesses.
Landlords must have the electrical installations in most rented properties inspected and tested at least every five years, or sooner if the previous report recommends it. This helps show the property is safe for tenants.
Businesses also need to keep their electrics safe for staff, customers and visitors. A commercial EICR is a good way to stay on top of this and avoid problems later on.
Homeowners may choose to have an EICR carried out if the property is older, they are buying or selling, or they simply want peace of mind.

What Happens After the Inspection?
After the EICR is complete, you’ll receive a report showing the condition of the electrical installation.
The report may show:
C1 – danger present and urgent work needed
C2 – potentially dangerous and remedial work needed
C3 – improvement recommended
FI – further investigation required
If everything is satisfactory, no immediate work is needed. If any issues are found, we can explain them clearly and provide a quote for any remedial electrical work.
